Spring 2011, Second Affiliated Hospital at the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.

Patient F 44, Brain Tumor pushing against her optical nerve causing blurred vision and dizziness. The treatments of course, didn’t make the tumor go away but it did give her some relief.

At times, it was a bit depressing seeing sick people all day in the inpatient wards but at the end of it I’m really glad we do what we do because it makes a difference in the world.

The Truth About Acupuncture Needles

So one of the most common reasons why people say they don’t like acupuncture is that they are afraid of needles.

Most people imagine nails and syringe needles when they think of acupuncture when in reality, the needles we use are literally hair thin. Most people barely feel a mosquito bite like sensation upon insertion and are fairly relaxed within minutes once the acupuncture begins to work and the body starts to rebalance itself.

After google image searching and not finding any decent looking pictures I decided to do my own version.

There was even one google image where they stuffed 10 acu needles into a syringe hole opening to prove a point.  Acupuncture needles are way thinner in comparison to a syringe needle (left) and a sewing needle (right)

Immediate Knee Pain Relief With Distal Points

Li 11 for knee pain. Been having massive results with knee pain patients. it is effective for many types of knee pain because the elbow is a mirror image of the knee. like for like.

According to Dr. Tan’s Acupuncture, LI balances KD,LV,and St channels making knees awesome again since 206 BCE.

Matt Came by to do a photo shoot but still had some ongoing knee issues so we did some tender points along his opposite side LI11 and poof! Immediate relief. He’s still healing but its definitely taken the edge off alot and has much better range of motion and the swelling went down dramatically. True story.

M, 73 stage 4 stomach cancer patient

2nd Affiliated Hospital at the Guangzhou University of Chinese medicine, spring 2011

M, 73 stage 4 stomach cancer patient. He refused to do chemo & was a bit too weak for acupuncture so they used moxa along the back shu points for constipation and fatigue. He came back a few days later with improved bowel movement and better energy levels.

I’d be lying if I said what we do cures cancer or any terminal illnesses but it does make a difference and offers people a better quality of life and sometimes even a smoother transition into the next.

Du Meridian 督脉

Using the Du meridian as a mirror image for pain directly on the spine in Dr.Tan’s balance method.

First time I used this, a patient had ongoing pain directly on the cervical spine for over a month. We found ashi points and did points along the Du channel. After insertion of the needles I asked to turn his head, we all heard several cracks and then the neck pain was immediately gone. Its always amazing how fast acupuncture can work.
